Today , in many parts of the wine loving globe friends & lovers will be sipping some Beaujolais Nouveau, celebrating the new harvest .:Vive Le Beaujolais " Visit your favorite wine bar and celebrate life & the Gamay grape from France or anywhere else for that matter. Add Comment Draught wine.....that's right ...coming to a restaurant near you. This is gaining some traction in markets like California & New York, so I expect we will see it sooner or later in our part of the world. The wine is presented in 20ltre Kegs (28 bottles) and suits a local winery to consumer market .Most of all it saves on bottles ,labels,corks etc. so the savings can be considerable for the winery & convenient for restaurants for house pours ie; Glass, 1/2 litre an so on. Special events & festivals are also looking at this for obvious reasons. Perhaps your next keg party will feature a Chardonnay or Cabernet . I would welcome any comments on this . What do you think ? If you where lucky enough to attend you know it was a great time .The food selection included, Thai ,Sliders.Pizza & a Cheese station, keeping everyone moving & sampling the wide variety wines from Swova member wineries. Highlights for me where , D'Angelo's '05 Reserve Marachal Foch (Not for the faint of heart) & Paglione (new ) Muscat ,citrus ,lemon/lime hint of almonds. Also new ,Coopers Hawk, Rose (Cab Franc) perfect & refreshing on this hot day,Sprucewood Meritage '07 black cherry ,med tannins ,elegant finish .Crew's Flagship Chardonnay impressed as did their Posh Cuvee,(Reisling,Chardonnay & Gewurtz) a fine example of blending. The event as a whole was a wounderfull showcase for our local wineries . Make sure to visit this area however & whenever you can . Pack a picnic rally some friends and enjoy .
