A Local Thanksgiving,

The last of summer & the beginning of Fall. Thanksgiving arrives & causes us to reflect on our  past and consider the future.
Are we still here? Then that's a good place to be. Thanksgiving means Food,Family & Friends plus wine to toast our good fortune . Local foods & wines should be on everyones menu .
Wines for your consideration should include Local  whites, ie.Reisling,Sauv Blanc,Gewurtztraminer & unoaked Chardonnay all will compliment the Big Bird or whichever game bird or Fish you choose.
Reds  selection . again Local Pinot Noir,Cab Franc.Cab Sauv.Merlot,Shiraz or any of the Meritage blends being produced locally to play well with the Ham  or cold cuts. That being said, please raise your glass in toast to the great work being done by our local farmers & wineries. We are indeed very fortunate to live in this area. Give thanks & Most of all don't forget to
 Sing & Dance
Cheers, Michael

Hit the road & follow the wine route signs to discover the wonderfull variety of small & large wineries this region has to offer.
Lake Erie North Shore & Pellee Island provide the driver & guests some beautifull vistas as you cruise along Hwy #50. Stop in and visit each of the wineries & vinyards that offer tastings & be transported to a place only a few people know exsists. Walk among the vines and know that all the wines produced here come from these same vinyards that dot the landscape along this route,Names like Gewurtztraminer (meaning SpiceyTraminer)Pinot Noir,Cabernet Sauvignon,Merlot,Reisling,Sauvgnon Blanc etc.greet the wine tourist.Sample them all if you dare.
Meet the owners/wine makers & hear their stories ,the who,the what .,the where, the when & the how they became purveyor of the noble grape.
Pack a picnic or enjoy some of the tasty foods offered at some of the estates.all locally grown & harvested.Thereis something for everyone, from novice to gourmand.
for more information see www.swova.ca. or this weekend head to Amherstburg for The Shores of Eire wine Festival held each year on the grounds of historic Fort Malden.
Bon Voyage & Salute
